About The Adventure

Pre-School & Kindergarten ::: Food Chain: Producer or Consumer

1st Grade - 2nd Grade ::: Crop-Processing-Distribution-Consumption

Plant your corn and gather it to feed the cows and chickens. Take a journey to the barn with the cow that never kicks, the hens that never peck and the potatoes that never sprout. Children become part of their agricultural heritage as they fill their basket with foods grown on the farm.

One of our events is the milk moustache contest.

Milk a cow, gather an egg, pick a tomato, dig a potato - its a fun way to learn how we grow the food and fiber we need to live. The concept of food production, distribution and consumption comes to life as the young farmers sell their crops and food at the Farmers Market.

Favorite Activities included in All Adventures:

barnyard animals

1. Barnyard animals

a favorite of children of all ages, are penned in our 1920’s Mule Barn. Students delight in brushing, petting or holding our farm animals.

There will sure be photo opportunities, so don't forget the camera!

2. Science based GERM CITY

Our award winning learning station, uses an entertaining technique to help children, teens and teachers look differently at an invisible problem: germs. This hands-on experience lets everyone examine the effects of improper hand washing— in a new light.

Students apply a nontoxic lotion that glows under black lights. When they enter the exhibit’s 8-foot tunnel, black-lights light up the pretend “germs” on their hands. After they wash their hands they enter the tunnel again. If they’ve effectively washed their hands, the lotion no longer appears and the pretend germs are gone. Regardless of their success they are instructed in proper handwashing procedures. Children learn they must wash tops and bottoms, around nails and between fingers. Singing a fun song or rap the entire time they wash their hands helps them realize correct handwashing takes more than a few seconds of time.

Germ City

Germ City is an exciting, interactive and scientific-based exhibit that increases the awareness of the consequences of poor hand washing. The Germ City program’s primary function is as an educational tool to facilitate meaningful changes in hand washing behaviors.

Studies of schools that have participated in this activity show an increase in soap useage and a decrease in absences due to colds and stomach related illnesses. This scientific based activity really works!

3. The Handwashing Fountain

“You gotta wash your hands, you gotta wash them right”
If ever there was a place where children can literally play in a fountain, it’s our Handwashing Fountain. Our original design fountain with it’s arching streams of water make handwashing an exciting experience. This fun station is a part of our Germ City adventure and ALWAYS follows our Animal Barnyard Tour.
Handwashing is a requirement on our farm venue. Our policy is: If you visit the animals then you MUST wash your hands!
Songs and raps make instruction on proper handwashing procedures fun!

goat ramp

4. The Goat Ramp (our new attraction)

It has proven to be a favorite at farm field trips across the USA. Watching goats literally walk the plank is fun for everyone. Our goats are not trained, they naturally love to climb. Children pull a rope which carries feed up to the platform for the goats. The goats then walk the ramps to snack on the feed.

The following activities while enjoyed by all ages are NOT scheduled for older classes.
